Friday, November 23rd, marks the twenty-fourth annual Howell Festival Of Lights. This year's Festival Of Lights will include the Fantasy 5k Run, tours of the Historic Opera House, the obligatory arts and crafts vendors and the parade. The parade will feature the Budweiser Clydesdales and starts at 7 p.m.
Forecast for Friday evening is in the low twenties with a chance of snow, so dress appropriately. If it is anything like last year, parking was scarce, as were bathroom facilities, traffic direction after the parade was chaotic and must have been a nightmare if you weren't familiar with the area and the sidewalks were jam packed.
The parade is worth it, though. The floats and the lights and Santa are quite impressive and with the Clydesdales this year, I'm sure it will surpass even last year.

I was hoping it wouldn't be so cold. I hate to admit it, but after so many years away I've gotten used to milder winters. Oooh, but I guess it's an excuse to wear my good winter coat that I have rarely worn since we left Chicago too many years ago.
This is the 24th? They started this when we were still in high school? I thought it started the next year. I thought I had been to two of them, but if it started when we were still in school, probably three. The mind is going in my old age, I guess.
I find it very inconvenient that my dad moved from our old house so we can't all just park there and walk uptown like back in the day. So inconsiderate of him. But our old neighborhood looks like hell now, it's sad.
See you Friday! I just wish S and her gang could could join us.

The festival really sounds like fun. I know what Darr means about mild winters. It's rarely cold enough here to justify wearing anything very heavy, at least for me. As for shoveling snow? I don't know how anyone does it year after year.

Oh Nadine, here is where we differ. I actually love to shovel snow. Crazy, I know! But I also don't have to do it all the time. When I lived in Chicago and did have to shovel often, it was just a short sidewalk, so it took just a few minutes. In Philly we only had significant snow a couple times a year, and often that was melted within a day. I would be positively giddy when there would be enough to shovel. If I had to shovel a lot and do it all the time it probably would no longer be a novelty and it wouldn't be enjoyable.
