I'm adding a new category. I need more, you know.
I am the first to admit that I am a cheapskate. Even when I had a lot of disposable income and a big savings account, I was always thrifty and frugal and scoured the clearance racks and used coupons.
With our current financial situation, I'm even more of a cheapskate and I thought I would pass on some of the finds I've made.
The first comes from my friend Chip. I had seen an ad in a local shopping circular about bundles of meat a grocery in White Lake had available and Chip beat me to the punch and told me that a store in Fowlerville has an even better deal. As a result, Martin and I went to Fowlerville and came home with a month's worth of meat, 29 pounds, for $50.49. It originally consisted of three pounds each of beef roast and pork steak, six pounds of hamburger, two pounds of beef liver, two pounds of hot dogs, nine pounds of chicken leg quarters, one pound of sliced bologna and three pounds of end chops. They allow substitutions and since we already had plenty of chicken, we substituted more beef roast, eighty-sixed the liver and hot dogs and added more hamburger and pork chops. Excellent quality of meat, prepared by a real butcher who could not have been nicer or more accommodating.
The store is Save-On Family Foods, located on Grand River in downtown Fowlerville.
Wow Lisa, 29 lbs for $50.49...let me see if I figure in the gas and the exchange....nah,I guess a trip from Canada is out of the question...but I am drooling over the prices.Good plan to nix the liver..you know cholesterol...O.K, I just hate it and now I can say, see...it's bad for you.
