After a late start because Martin had horrible insomnia last night and I didn't drug him into unconsciousness with Ambien; after dealing with the longest parade in the smallest town of Pinckney, we finally hooked up with Sain't Christopher for lunch in Dexter.
Chris schlepped a wonderful bottle of wine all the way from California for me. How do I know it's wonderful? Well, he has much more sophisticated taste in wine than I could hope to develop in years and I have now had my third glass and well, DAMN.
Van Der Heysen Vineyards White Table Wine from Napa Valley. The label says chill the glass, not the wine. Chris suggested that I chill the wine for five minutes and I generally don't like my whites ice cold, I chilled it for about ten minutes since it had ridden home with us in a warm car for half an hour. I did chill the glasses (Yes, I gave Martin a glass. He's not big on whites and enjoyed his glass.)
Good stuff. GREAT STUFF. I can taste the fruit (pear?) and a nut flavor and oh is it buttery. IT IS SO BUTTERY. Yum.
My unsophisticated take on it.
Forgive me.
Our waitress at the restaurant? I have houseplants that have more joie de vivre and smiles. But whatever.
I wish we could have had more time to spend with Chris and could have raised a glass or six. Next time, Chris, you are coming to my house for a meal that I will cook, with your wine in tow, of course, and we will chat much longer.
I am so jealous!!!!! I hope you had a wonderful time.
