Dear Readers, you have no idea how happy I am to be going into this three day week-end. I need it so badly.
Our plans for the week-end?
Well, I asked Margaret, my mother-in-law, to pay a visit with her nifty carpet shampooer, which she did. Although my house wasn't really dirty, she also cleaned everything she could because Margaret is a bit OCD that way. Cleaning is like a hobby to her. The woman hasn't read a book in years because she can't sit still long enough but damn, is her house clean.
So my plans for Friday night of doing some tidying were sadly dashed. You can imagine my sorrow. Instead, I sat on the deck enjoying the wonderful weather and an adult beverage or six.
NOTE TO SELF: You know you are officially a grown up when your idea of a fun Friday night is drinking wine while cleaning the bathroom versus hitting Happy Hour after work for a couple of hours, going home to take the Hour Of Power Nap, then after a shower and much wardrobe angst, hitting the clubs.
Tonight, we are having a bonfire. We have a lot of bonfires. So far, no cops or fire department visits and no complaints from our asshat next door neighbors. See, there is an advantage to living on five acres that must be mowed where the Blair Witch Project could have been filmed.
I'm going to make lasagna, because you know, nothing quite says "Hello, Summer!" quite like a twenty pound lasagna.
At some point this week-end, we will be hooking up with Sain't Christopher for lunch. I look forward to that.
I have also invited the Domestic Princess and her husband (who I went to high school with) to the bonfire. I hope they turn up.
We plan on going to the Brighton Memorial Day parade, where my other husband, Sam, will be directing traffic as a Brighton Police Department reserve officer. We're going to actually watch the parade, not just to see Sam directing traffic although I'm sure that would be equally entertaining and since there are no clowns involved with directing traffic, I'd probably be much more content just watching Sam. Clowns scare me.
Did I also mention that at some point this week-end, I'm so taking a nap?
Yeah, ya know that nap you were talking about... well we took a family wide-all day-siesta to fight(ward) off this killer cold. I really feel like shit so I wasn't gonna be much fun anyway. Sorry we missed you guys. We suck in the worst way.
