I grew up playing games with my family. By this I mean board and card games, in addition to the normal head games families play.
I am an ace euchre player. Love it! Sadly, my husband does not play cards. Euchre is a Midwestern anomoly anyway. What else can you do when you go up North but play euchre and drink a lot?
We also played Scrabble and Monopoly. I'm pretty good at Scrabble, too. Monopoly bores me.
The game that lives on in infamy, however, is Uno. Remember Uno? There was a huge craze for Uno back in the early 80s. I can remember playing Uno for just hours. You have to picture my Italian American family. There was a lot of shouting and drama involved. It was great fun playing Uno. You just kept adding decks until you had enough cards to go around.
All of us cousins found it hilarious when the adults started deteriorating after drinking so much wine and we were able to beat the pants off them. DRAW FOUR DAD! DAD! YOU HAVE TO DRAW FOUR!
By the time all the cousins and I were teen-agers, Uno was passe and the adults went back to playing euchre while us kids snuck out back and smoked joints.
I have such fond memories of childhood.
