I currently have 3 dogs, which is at least 2 more than I need. At one point, we had four. Sadly, my Shar-Pei, my long time companion and freind, passed away a year ago in April.
Our current furry friends:
Max, a husky/malmute/wolf hybrid. He is 11 years old, in his doggie "golden years". If Kibbles and Bits had an AARP plan, he'd be a member. He is very aloof, except when he wants attention. He used to play soccer in the yard with my son, now he is good for about 5 minutes before he needs a nap. He loves the snow and does a happy dance when he goes out in a snowstorm. He is also good at draping all 120 pounds of himself in the middle of the kitchen when I am cooking. I will step over him about 318 times before I finally prod him with my foot and say "MAX! MOVE for the love of God!"
China, a coonhound, lab/walker mix. Now, I should have known better. My dad raised coonhounds when I was a child. Very high strung dogs. Not really meant to be indoor dogs. China is MY dog, though. She picked me. She is the most loving affectionate dog you can imagine. Unfortunately, she thinks she is the size of a toy poodlee and wants to crawl up in my lap all the time. She has separation anxiety, she is afraid of thunderstorms and other loud noises (I couldn't imagine hunting with her) and a fearless killer of all things. She one time stalked and killed a TURTLE. Gee, China, that was quite a trick, outwitting the poor turtle. She is also sneaky and will eat anthing you leave within reach, but only when you are not looking. She once devoured an entire Chinese take-out dinner in the time it took me to take out my contacts.
Benny. Benny is well.....brown. We don't know what breed he is. He's a medium sized brown dog who is sweet but dumb as a box of rocks. He and China egg each other on. Recently, they acquired a Squirrel Snack that they carted around the yard until my husband hid it in the trash. Benny was very proud of the Squirrel Snack and wanted to show it to Mommy by bringing it in the house. Mommy said no and told Daddy to get the shovel.
